Description: The church was built around 1134 and is renowned for its carvings and even though sculptured from sandstone, all are remarkably preserved particularly on its south door, corbel table, chancel arch and semi-circular apse. These sculptures, whose inspirations come from the Bestiary and many parts of Europe and Eastern Mediteranean, mirror the traditions and cultures of Kilpecks early settlers. They form the most comprehensive extent of work from local school of sculpture known as 'The Herefordshire School of Romanesque Sculpture'. There are many interesting features and Kilpeck church as it is sometimes refered is a popular church to visit in Herefordshire and deserves a visit. From Hereford take the A465 and about 8 miles out you will see a brown sign for Kilpeck church to turn left.
