The Worcestershire town of Malvern sits on the eastern side of the Malvern Hills. Many of the elegant buildings are a result of its popularity as a spa town in the Victorian era and the monuments around Malvern bear this out. A place for the arts, Malvern is home to The Winter Gardens where a variety of drama and music festivals take place.

Malvern is famous for many things, not least Great Malvern Station, which has beautifully ornate ironwork. The station is invariably decorated with flowers and even has its own tearoom on site.

Great Malvern Priory dates back to 1085. Here you’ll find what has been described as the finest collection of stained glass after York Minster. The priory has the best-preserved collection of medieval floor and wall tiles in England and behind the altar is a superb glass mosaic.

Priory Park Priory Park was originally part of the Priory Church. Priory Park links onto the Malvern Theatre complex. Bands play in the restored Victorian bandstand on Sunday Afternoons from the end of May to early September.

The park hosts a number of exotic trees and a tree sculpture created in 2010. There is a pleasing pond habitated by ducks making the Priory Patk a very pleasant place to spend those lazy sunny afternoons.

Malvern Theatres  is one of the principal regional venues for a wide choice of artistic performances. The state of the art Theatre complex attracts pre and post London productions with top class entertainment throughout the year. The building also includes a cinema which shows newly released films.

Malvern Museum of Local History is housed in a 15th century Benedictine priory gatehouse and has rooms depicting various eras including the Medieval Room, the Twentieth Century Room, the Victorian Room, the Malvern Hills Room and the Water Cure Room.

Morgan Motor Company Visitor Centre and Museum, in Malvern Link, offers guided tours of the factory and a chance to learn all about the company from the Victorian era up to the present day.

St Ann’s Well and Holy Well can be found on the Malvern Hills. St Ann’s Well, where you can still sample the waters, is believed to have been used by 11th century monks while they were building the Great Malvern Priory.

The Holy Well is thought to be the oldest bottling plant in the world with records going back to the 17th century. Believed to have had healing properties, flowers and other items were once left at the well as votive offerings.
Little Malvern Court near Malvern is part of a former 15th century Benedictine monastery. The beautiful gardens, which cover some 10 acres, have lakes, garden rooms, a terrace and a wide variety of trees, roses and shrubs.

The award-winning Malvern Spa has everything you need to relax, with a range of treatments including a hydrotherapy pool and sauna.

Walking in the Malvern Hills is a popular activity. For serious walkers there’s a 7-hour, 18-mile trek, taking in 33 peaks. This walk ends up at a local brewery for a much-deserved real ale and a certificate of your achievement. For those who enjoy a fairly leisurely walk, filled with stories of local history, folklore and ghosts, there are guided walking tours around the Malvern Hills. Author, photographer and hill-walker, Mike Smart, takes small groups along the hills.

The Malvern Town Walk is organised by the Malvern Civic Society. Taking around an hour and a half, and starting and finishing at the Tourist Information Centre, on the guided walk you will learn all about the town’s Water Cure, the Priory, Sir Edward Elgar’s connections with Malvern and more.
