Christmas Lunch in Herefordshire Restaurants, Hotels and Pubs

That time of year is upon us once more when, regretfully, we wave away all thoughts of summer sunshine and begin planning the winter festivities. For many of us the biggest of these is the Christmas period with its associated joys and stresses. One of the highpoints is Christmas lunch, that extra special time we celebrate with friends and family. But now, more than ever before, people are shutting their kitchen doors and instead, are choosing to eat out in hassle-free style.

Whether your preference is for an intimate meal with a partner or for a larger family get-together, it always pays to make your arrangements early to avoid disappointment as venues get booked up very quickly. There is certainly no shortage of wonderful venues around the county. From country restaurants to pubs and bistros offering traditional Christmas fare, there are many restaurants in Herefordshire and the surrounding area– often with locally sourced ingredients – now is not too soon to start thinking about the ideal place to suit your needs.

From the time-honoured roast turkey with all the trimmings to something a little more adventurous, choosing a country hotel in which to celebrate the big day is a popular option, but do book well in advance. Pre-orders are sometimes required and this is especially true if you require vegan or vegetarian alternatives, or have other dietary needs, as food is often prepared to order.

Country restaurants and country hotels are also perfect for works parties and Christmas lunches as they can accommodate larger numbers. There is usually room for dancing too, which could be an important addition if holding an evening event. Though this kind of function generally takes place in the weeks running up to Christmas, rather than over the few main festive days, it’s vital to book your venue in plenty of time for a number of reasons.

It is essential that there is a good choice of food available to suit various tastes, and budget might be an important consideration too. Hotels and restaurants will supply you with their set menus, which will then need to be circulated amongst your colleagues before a final decision is made and bookings can be confirmed.

Whatever you decide, and however big or small your party is, there is sure to be a warm welcome, delicious food and select local wines and beers to help your celebrations go with a bang this festive season. Just remember – plan now then sit back and relax!
